All my literate days have been defined by poetry. The other expressions, art and sculpture, are escapes. They are bridges between poems. A solvent used to remove the glue; to free up my hand when the writing gets tough.

Once, during a lively critique someone commented, "Your poems push words until their meaning strains."

I've never decided if it was praise or criticism, but like the description anyway.
